Does anybody have any experience of pre ordering and getting the game the day before release date ?
I have heard from friends who have had this happen as most companies try to despatch to match the release date.
I ordered motogp 08 with this in mind but still didnt get it untill the actual release date !! Doh ...
I used play last time and got a free t-shirt which was cool and i think with race pro they are offering an Exclusive '08 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee Unlock Code) :)
What gonna be the best plan of attack fella's :mefiant:

Hmmm. Play.com are a good one, but you have no guarantee when the item is going to arrive. £32.99 with car.
shopto.net have it for £29.99 with no car, and their deliveries usually come either the day before, or even two days before release day.
Is the Dodge Charger worth £3?
The trouble with Friday releases is that if they don't get it shipped the day before its several days before you get the game :/
That being said I have it preordered, although if it doesn't come here on release day I'll buy it in a local shop.
Seeing as this game isn't exactly ready and waiting for it's release date I doubt seeing it before release, it all seems kinda tight time wise with this game. But that's just me speculating :)

I'm preordering at Gamestop for the Charger SRT8. I can't afford to miss out on a car when the game will have so very few.

Pre-ordered through Game as well.
Grabbed it for £29.99 when it was initially advertised.
They're quite good at delivering for on the day release, and occasionally the day before if you are lucky.

This close to release I very much doubt we will see more pre-order bonuses.
Also, Dodge cars are not bad at all regardless of what preconceptions you have. The Viper ACR is currently the fastest production street-legal car in the world and is able to spank Ferrari's and Lambo's quite easily. I also test drove a Caliber SRT4 the other day and that is one heck of a mean car for the price.
I'm glad they only have one pre-order car anyway. Otherwise I would have to buy multiple copies of the game from different vendors to get all the cars, and then have to trade-in the extra copies somehow. I hope they just focus lots of good cars into DLC packs and then I will gladly pay good money there.

I did it for L4D, because it was £20 and I wanted 2 copies [and then the 2nd PC broke!] but I got the first copy on Steam, and the demo, several days before it was delivered retail.
But, I saw Woolworths and Zavvi hit the wall and given the climate, I'm not going to risk saving £5 given the potential for disaster if the firm I preorder with does the same. Perhaps paying by CC mitigates it? [assuming the bank doesn't go bust too, or they don't have the protection for this that they do for other things?]
I dunno, I shall just pay with cash after I've got a copy in my hand :)
Sounds like Dodge have finally managed to do what lotus did in the 60s and 70s? :)

Pre-ordered from play.com but I don't expect to receive it on release day as their orders usually take 2 days from the dispatch notification email being sent. That's what happens when you live in a village ooo-arrr.

Ebay, Parcelforce, Phone courier and UPS never managed to find my house, so Im not gonna bother pre-ordering it.
I'll just head on down to my local Gamestation on the day it is released. Got a freind from uni who works there so he can put one on one side...although Im pretty sure it's not gonna fly off the shelves as quick as Halo or Gears did...
i havent got around to it yet because i was always waiting for the date to actually be confirmed as i didnt wanna pay for it and have to wait like a year, when i do it will most probably be from play.com but im sure that i could pick it up in a shop on release date as i doubt it will be selling out

I just did'nt want to chance delay in delivery and with some bad comments aimed towards PLAY.com recently i did'nt want to order it from them either.Personally though i dont really like all these bonus car's from either pre-order or buying a limited edition.With a limited edition by all means include booklets and posters or what not,But in the end we all to wait for the same games and we will all be buying DLC etc so why should those that choose to buy in a store on release day not have the same car's as everyone else just because they did'nt have the money or credit details months before?.
I know pre-ordering is a way of predicting sales so i guess a bonus item of some sort would be nice for those people,and no one is forcing anyone to spend £10/$20 more on the limited edition,but those that do,again it is nice to reward them.But when it comes to actuall content featured in the game,well i dont think it's right that certain people should miss out on owning every car/weapon,clothing etc in the game.After all,the pre-order games are usually cheaper than actual day release sales,so why should everyone not get the same content?.

Maybe they should give an incentive of a real Dodge Charger. That would be fair and handy :)
Seriously though, i do think incentives are daft, but i fall for them every time. Something like a Race Pro poster, keyring or something would be better i feel..

the dodge will most likely be available to download off the store anyway as most of these "exclusive" cars end up being. Either that or it will be slipped into one of the free dlc packs.
No pre-order here, I have the day booked off for other reasons so will pick it up on the day.

I've been playing spec III and it actually seems alright now. A bit more like driving a car, and a bit less like driving a sledge.

I just stopped by Gamestop here in the US. The guy behind the counter hadn't heard of RacePro before I asked, and it looks like the release date was just announced to the stores.
There's no Limited edition or anything, as far as he could tell. EDIT: for the US buyers.
EDIT of EDIT: the online Gamestop DOES have the Dogdge Superbee.

I can't say for 100% sure, but I believe it is. Gamestop is native to the USA, so unless they say sepcifically that an offer ISN'T available here, I will assume it is.

Yes, that date has been quite thoroughly established. Well that is until they delay it again to a new date. But for now that is the date. :bravo:

Mine's Pre ordered from Play.com it still says release date is 13th Feb and it comes with the Charger Superbee too.
Shopto are still advertising the game for £29.99, but theres no mention of an extra car code on the site.

How did those work? I remember with GRID you could just google the codes, but that's because they were built into the game and were just lieveries anyways.
These are actual cars and if they use a LIVE marketplace download code, then they will be completely unique.

yeh i know its weird it says 59 in the list but click on the game to show it by itself an it says 39. 2 hours ago it said 20 dollar price reduction. it dont say that anymore but still says 39. just goes to show level of confusion around this one

Just called my local GameStop. I told them that the website had two conflicting prices for the game. I asked them if they could look up what "their" system said. The GS employee confirmed that their computer shows $39.99.
So obviously this is good for the consumer, but what does this say about the gameplay? A new game debuting at $39.99? Granted price doesn't mean everything, but just about every console game that comes out starts at $59.99. From there it just depends on how well the product sells as to the price drop.

You never know why the price drop may be. It may not be a bad thing. An example being several years ago before EA had the exclusive NFL license there were other NFL games made that were sold at a lower price just to encourage people to buy the game since the whole madden franchise is so huge and people did buy them just because they did not cost as much.

Good point. I think I may pre-order it so that I can get the bonus car, but I hope the price doesn't go back up between now and whenever this game is coming out...
I pre-ordered GTR2 (box), RACE 07 (steam) for $19.99 USD. GTR Evolution I paid 19.99 or 29.99. SimBin also gave me the STCC add-on for free because I had pre-ordered RACE 07 or GTR: Evo
So for SimBin lower prices are not a harbinger of doom...they are just good prices for what have been awesome sims so far.

I'm getting more and more excited about the release of this game after watching some of the videos posted of gameplay on YouTube. I just wish there would be some more info released about this game and more video. I was really disappointed with OXM's review of Race Pro. It seems like from the review they never really played the game. Oh well, hopefully there will be some better reviews out when the game comes out and not reviews based on a magazine reviewers demo...

just returned from game stop. got my pre order for 39. i had them check their website while i was there. they were at a loss as to why the front page had wrong price an date. actually the look on their face when the screen came up was priceless. they looked at it, then at each other, i got a grin out of it. they assured me i bought it for 39 an could pick it up on feb 18th at 10:30 am.
