.. I'm sorry but words.. cannot describe how rubbish this game looks & plays, I got the game today and believe me when I say, it is complete bull.
I am really.. REALLY disappointed in my purchase, Luckily I got it for only 29.99 so when Gamestation has their trade-in price for this.. I'm giving it to 'em lol :bravo:
It's just so ugly that I cannot even begin to race, It doesn't even look at all like it does on the back of the case!!
Sadly disappointed.. It's like Forza 1 but on the Xbox 360 instead, annd How the hell was this being compared to GT5, Thats impossible.. and thats coming from a 360 fanboy such as myself! lol
Give this one a miss guys.. I'm so sorry, but this isn't the one.. Forza 3 on the other hand! mdr1
Thanks for the feedback - it's useful to know what people's priorities are for future games.

So you got the game today. I'm assuming the earliest you could have got it was 9.00 am. And it's 14.30 now, so in a maximum of 5 hours of gameplay you have made this decision. I just don't think that is long enough. Seriously give it a really good chance, play for longer, give the devs a chance to sort out the issue that have been raised. One of the devs has posted to say they are working hard on solutions for problems people have encountered, but please don't post after 5 hours totally writing of this game.

I'm sorry to come on here & start ranting on about how crappy it looks, but the sudden urge just made me do it.. :noooo:
I mean, The first time I started a race, I just stared at my 32" HDTV screen & I went, Is this in 1080p? .. I started questioning myself about why it looks.. like it does .. I never do that usually! lol
I thought something was wrong with my tv! Ah man...

Oh dear! Why complain if you have not even played it! Surely you knew this game was not about graphics before you purchased. Serves you right for not researching before you parted with you dolla!

Take it back, Youve said your peace, we know what you think, I think its pointless keep going on about it if you dont like it, Your wasting your own time more than anything !
Yeah I understand - different people have different things that they look for in a game and all opinions are valid (well, most of them ;) ). It's also valid to give feedback on first impressions, because even if they're not the be all and end all, it's obvious they are important enough - perhaps more so for a console game than Simbin's usual genre.
Personally I'm also in the camp that prefers to give the game a bit more time and try to ignore the graphics, but then I've been playing games since the BBC so if I could enjoy Revs with it's graphics I can certainly enjoy something as lush as RACE Pro (comparatively).
Guys, please, the guy has given his opinion in a very respectful manner and isn't breaking any rules. No need to jump on him.

Forza 1 is Forza 2, it just has more quantity and glitches, oh and a AH.
Race Pro rocks, im actually having fun 'Racing'. Non of this hotlapping with collisions and tires/fuel off traction on in a 900hp pre 1970s muscle car. ****!
Do you not do your research, the selling point of this GAME is the GAMEplay. Beats any console racer by a mile.

i agree this is harsh - most people should know if they are in the target audience for this game and what this game does it does very well. as good as anythig out there.
i have to admit i bought the game and played it a total of 5mins before going back to tdu but this is not a reflection of this games quality rather my own personal taste...

Well it's not that its broken or anything.. Its just that it feels so cheap.
The menus, controls, the graphics, the static hud, no HDR, Motion blur.. No nothing, It's just like Rise Of The Argonauts.. Just so cheap.
The main culprit of this is the suxxors textures on the cars.. The sponsor logos are so blurred and you can't read 'em properly.. Ultra realistic models, *sigh* Advertising to the max!

But there is a valid reason that the looks don't meet the top next gen standards. They have invested more of the 360's performance into the game engine and the driving model. This has meant that visuals have had to take a hit unfortunately, but I think most here agree that gameplay should be put before graphics everyday of the week.

Im with you Tone ,
Just had a 6 player race in WTCC around Anderstorp , 6 racers bumper to bumper, side by side for the whole race , I can only describe it at the best moment of gaming I have ever had , and I have been gaming for 26 years.
You guys that are hung up on the graphics (and I can understand that) need to remember what poor souls like me grew up on.......
There once was a game that I was really excited about , it was the next big thing , it was awsome , I couldnt wait for it !!!!
When I fiirst played it , I was like WOW look at those graphics !!!
You can now experience this game on Xbox live.
Go to Arcade and download Rally X .
Now tell me , does Race Pro look so bad ? ..... Eh !!!
We have been spoilt in recent years , but the fact it is that none of the "pretty boys " have managed to give us REAL Racing.....
Race Pro does and if its a bit of minger I dont care Im still gunna give it one!

Well i'm afraid i was right about the reasons for no demo.Had we gotten our hands on this game at it's present state before release ..i'm sure most of us would have been put off.
I wouldn't have said it was ugly,i'm more bothered by dodgy frame rates, constant screen tearing (which were all apparent on gameplay videos) and at present rarely able to race on line.

Agreed, Jus, and I am glad that you had a great lobby :)
What can you say everyone is a critic...
On point to the OP...
Also, I personally think that the physics in this game are WELL BEYOND forza 2's.
The cars actually have weight to them.... Forza none! its like ice skating in a plastic shoe! I know cause I spent 2 years there DAILY! I worked with some of the best tuners in the game.. and the physics in forza are certainly pedestrian at best.
Turn 10 could seriously learn a thing from the physics side of the Lizard engine.
In summary... dont like it... dont play it... want something better? MAKE A BETTER RACING GAME YOURSELF.. stop blaming others for not meeting YOUR self convoluted and overhyped expectations.

I have not had a single issue with screen tearing (cockpit view or bonnet view) and the only frame rate drop I have seen has been during practice when someone leaves or joins the lobby. So please anybody reading this and wondering about buying the game, don't think this is an issue that affects all because it isn't.
I'mnot for a second suggesting it is not an issue for you djm but have you checked everything. Some have had success by making sure the xbox is well ventilated making sure the dust is cleaned out of all fan outlets both on xbox and psu, dloading to hard disk, placing the xbox horizontal instead of vertical. Anything has got to be worth a try.

Umm, are you really all that bothered by the lack of fanfare for winning a race? Maybe something like Juiced 2, with dancing girls in bikini's would be more to your liking.lolblue:
I'm starting to wonder if it isn't just closeted fan boy bias that's causing all the fuss. People love one game or the other, and don't want to see anything dare to challenge the game they love.
And the truth is, if you're a Forza lover, or GT lover for that matter. You should welcome games like Race Pro, because in the end, competition will cause the developers of other games to step it up. With Race Pro, and the upcoming EA Shift title (which reports it's going to be sim) in the market other developers will be forced to innovate and push their physics engines to the fullest.

+1 Dawg. Turn 10 will undoubtedly take a look at RP and hopefully realise there is a big market for a more sim orientated game and add a few more strings to their bow. The more good racing games that are released the better the future will be for racing games in general.

I was once a big Gran Turismo supporter, had them all and was good on them, never thought I'd see a rival, until.......I got the 360 and forza, changed my mind there :),
This is different to both, give it time and us time to figure it out and the Dev's to iron out the bugs.
So far very enjoyable and I don't feel like I wasted any money buying it :)

The graphics in this game may not be what you would expect from the 360 but they are not as bad as some of you are making them out to be. In fact, I don't have any problem with them at all.
How much of the graphics do you really notice when you are racing anyhow?
I am to busy looking at the track to go sight seeing.

Wow. You are so used to Forza that you think THAT is how a sim is supposed to feel? Forza is as much of a sim as Mario cart. Enough said.
Read my review. Your opinion means nothing. It is clear that you are EXACTLY the person that Simbin were NOT aiming this game toward. So pop PGR4, GRID and FORZA back in the diskdrive because it sounds like arcade racing is your kind of game.

Do some research. GT5 has way more people working on it and it has been in development for at least 4 years now. Simbin is a small team and with support they will grow and their product can continue to get better in all areas.
I never played GT5P but check out the videos on youtube. It looks like it is nothing to be proud of unless you just care about graphics.

how can GT5p be 4 years in development when the ps3 has 2 years so far?? you are just a fanboy!!!
at least be a man stand up and say "ok this game has got all sorts of issues and it's the truth BUT I still love it!" don't try to be it's attorney!!! Don't you want Simbin to give us something really good?!!! If that's what you want no point trying to trash every single person that comes in these forums and dislike what they paid for!!!
I just got to sit down for a while with the game. Once your over the initial shock and let it grow. Man. This thing is a beauty. This is my first SimBin experience.
I just raced online, BRNO, alfa 87 in the rain. I can't say enough about the immersion, the pacing, atmosphere, control, it's awesome.
Forza 2, GT, there fine, but it's really not even close to the same kind of experience.
My biggest complaint, is the replay. This is where the graphics show there worst.

Zedux.... here's your problem. You occasionally make some good points, but, unfortunately you constantly spew out this utter **** which shows you to be a fanboy.
Ps3 was released in 2006. It is now 2009. So that's a little over two years. Secondly, if you can only develop a game once the console has been released, then it's amazing how Launch games exist really... I mean, Resistance 1 must have had... 0 days of development!
GT4 came out in 2004. It's now 2009. GT5 has basically had over 4 years of development (GTHD being a prologue prologue of GT5, really).
The reason this game is in such a messy condition is due to lack of development time, experience, money, and people. When I write my review for this game, I will make it severly obvious what the problems are, HOWEVER, and this is crucially important, this game DOES nail things which Forza, and GT5 simply do not. It's a game for a very niche market, and once they fix the immediate problems, and then set about dealing with some of the niggling things, it's going to be a very solid sleeper hit.

Yes, I know that. And believe me, Im no Fanboy. But while the Top Gear track, is AWESOME (yes I have every episode of every season ever aired) it is not a race track. 90% of the cars in that game are NOT race cars. oh i did...when i deleted it. i can't believe you think it's a dumb concept that a team of 50 can do a better job than a force of 25 for example. the 50 people can specialise and concentrate on specific areas, whereas the 25 would have to do twice as much given the same amount of time

that still doesn't make sense. do u really think simbin have guys who aren't specialists in what they do? its not like its just a few people saying "well i never did that before but how hard could it be?"
my point is simple. a game developer has a responsibility regardless of how many people they have, to release a game relativly bug and glitch free.
then most developers get a nice 2/10 in that department. no-end of current gen games have been released broken
(oh and i'm not saying the simbin people aren't specialists, my point is if you have 2 things to do and only one person, that person has to split their time and efforts)

agreed about the broken games. in fact no game is perfect on release but you dont get many games with people complaining of terrible graphics, sound, online play etc.
and on your second point, firstly how do u know? and secondly having 2 things to do is hardly out of the ordinary. if there was 1 person to do every job the budget would be gone on wages alone.

it was an example not a real life excercise. and how do i know? i have a job... with responsibilities, and workloads, and time management and all the pleasantries that go with that
come on, the graphics aren't THAT bad, they do their job, and no-one has EVER said this game is going to revolutionise graphics in racing games. if you thought that then you clearly didn't know what you were buying

it was an example not a real life excercise. and how do i know? i have a job... with responsibilities, and workloads, and time management and all the pleasantries that go with that
come on, the graphics aren't THAT bad, they do their job, and no-one has EVER said this game is going to revolutionise graphics in racing games. if you thought that then you clearly didn't know what you were buying
a bit like every job then. true the graphics dont look too bad but at the same time they do make a game more enjoyable. they are important. its more so the reports of screen tearing, super fast minis and broken scoreboards i was refering to.
obviously these can be fixed but you cant genuinely be satisfied and ignore problems like that. if you just buy any rubbish and defend it to the death your actually part of the reason games are released this way.
its an expensive hobby and you have to expect the best for your money.

Bono, you don't have to believe me if you do not want to. Just do the research and you will see that what I said is true.
If you really think that a team of 80 people can do the same amount of work that a team of 160 people working for 4 years can do you are ridiculous.

Lets explain this an idiotic way. A football/soccer game 11 vs 6, who's going to win?
if the 11 players have no legs then my moneys on 6 players.
see what I mean?

when did i say that? what i said is its a lame excuse to accept a rubbish game because theres a small team working on it.

Just to show you that the comment of over 150 people working on GT5 for 4yrs is true just click on the link below.

After playing GT5P my view is very simple and that is as soon as GT5 is released the rest of my racing games will go in the bin. If FM3 is released at the same time I won't even bother buying it. Some people say GT5 is all about graphics but anyone who has played GT5P will know the physics engine is superb.
However very unfair to compare GT5 with RacePro. For me its obvious a team of 150 people will be able to produce a far better game especially due to the length of time in development. Furthermore PD are well known to push a console to its limits and you only have to look at GT4 on youtube to see this. You could argue that GT4 on the PS2 looks better than RP on the 360!

I honestly have no problems with the graphics in this game i think they do a very good job, but my main gripe is that screen tearing, it just gets on my nerves, i honestly do hope they sort it out, because this game has the potential to be one of the best racing games on the 360.

Ok Race Pro may have a few niggles along with the online problems, but theres no doubt it is an excellent console sim. Great physics and graphically decent. Im certainly not planning on selling Race Pro on, infact we should be grateful both Atari and SimBin decided on working on a 360 project.

GT5 Prologue handles ok but no damage and ridiculous collisions will ruin it for me, plus wall riding and Sonys useless online service.

I have not had a single issue with screen tearing (cockpit view or bonnet view) and the only frame rate drop I have seen has been during practice when someone leaves or joins the lobby. So please anybody reading this and wondering about buying the game, don't think this is an issue that affects all because it isn't.
I can honestly say that I have not had one instance of screen tearing either, not one. It's odd that there are reports of tearing from some, but others (myself included) have had none. I have installed the game on my hard drive, maybe the hardware settings come into play too?
Also, like Slim, the only time the frame rate drops for me is when somebody joins a lobby, although to be fair it is far less severe and disruptive than it is in something like World at War.
I love racing games, and last night I had some of the best, closest and most exhilerating racing I've had on a console since PGR2 (many years ago now, but nothing has come close since, until now!). I know you can't compare the games, but you can compare the thrill of close racing, where you feel like the inputs you make are perfectly represented on the screen. There are no perculiarities in the handling/physics model, it just works, you almost think the cars into the bends and know that you, not the game, are entirely responsible for what happens to your car.
Racing Caterham 200s around Monza with friends last night was just awesome, it took me 3 days before I felt I could finally drive the Caterham like it should be driven - on the ragged edge, knowing that just a little bit more could end my race in an instant. When I first drove the 200 I was actually a little disappointed with the pace and the feel, but it turns out that I was nowhere near finding out what the car could do, something that I feel that a lot of the disappointed people here are guilty of. The difference between the disappointed and the thrilled though, is perserverence, and consequently I feel that I have been rewarded in full! If I never played the game again, racing like that would have been worth the cost of admission, at £30 a bargain.
Sure, the graphics could be better, I don't think anybody would deny that, but I also understand where the real work went into this game, where it counts. I would take a game that plays as well as this any day of the year over a game that looked better but played worse. I suspect that the power of the 360 has been used as best as Simbin Know how, which considering they have a console catalogue of 0 games, is not surprising that they may have missed a trick or two, but thank god they didn't concede to pressure and dumb the game down at the expense of the fantastic physics engine.
These are just a few of my thoughs that I wanted to share, because I would hate to think that people might miss out on a game this thrilling because of the negative comments around. If you want to race and be immersed in an experience that you cannot get anywhere else on a console, buy this game and put in some hard work, adjust sound and control settings until it feels right, and then prepare to lose many many hours to racing like you've never raced before.

One of the best posts on here for days. Not scared to admit to the games faults of which there are some but have given the game long enough to make sense. This game is like a fine wine, gets better with age. I've just had my first experience in a Z4 and.....wow. I plead with everyone to give this game time. It will not be easy or come quickly but it wont dissapoint.

a what now?? how does that work? i haven't played race pro myself but can't understand why everyone who dares dislike it is called a fanboy. if it has terible graphics, bugs, glitches and poor online play your pretty much talking about everything that makes a modern game.
and its bull to its all about the physics. gran turismo can manage photo realistic graphics and realistic handling so why cant race pro.
Your forgetting that the ps3 has blue ray. Blue ray can fit a lot more information on a disk than a normal xbox disk can.

thats true but theres still no excuse for race pro having so many problems. the graphics are good but the screen tearing, useless online and the glitches which will no doubt mean the scoreboards being wiped are just a sign of a game being rushed out. a bit like the 360 really, take the money now and fix the problems later.
