After playing Race Pro for a while I decided to focus on GTR2 instead. As some of you may know, I actually just picked up GTR2 to pass the time (based on recommendations here) while waiting for Race Pro to get bug fixed. But once you go down the GTR2 road it is very hard to come back to Race Pro. I'm not slamming Race Pro. I know it is geared towards a different crowd (console), and it is a good sim. But GTR2 is just amazing. I picked it and GT Legends up for $20. And considering that there are hundreds of free tracks (many super high quality - Singapore, The Ring, Monaco, etc.) and thousands of free cars, it just doesn't make sense to wait for content to trickle down to Race Pro. Not when I have a more realistic and mature sim in GTR2.
So...my hats off to Simbin for developing some incredible racing games! I hope you boys enjoy Race Pro as much as I am enjoying GTR2 and GTL!

I dislike being referred to as the console crowd. I used to be a PC gamer but I just can't be bothered with it anymore. Just because I only play console games these days doesn't mean I want any less of a sim even if I am just a console gamer these days. "The console crowd" is insulting. "The console crowd" isn't a bunch of people that don't like in depth games. What I think you're referring to is casual gamers, or not as hardcore gamers, which you get on all systems. Yes, there are more less hardcore and casual gamers on the consoles but that stands to reason.

Funny but I think GTR2 is better then the newer releases. GTR2 is the sim of all sims as Porsche is the comparision everyone tries to achive in the sports car industry. It's obviously better the Race Pro but I do have hopes that Race Pro will one day be as good as Race 07 or GTR EVo.

Race Pro will get better over time. Give simbin a break they did good for there first console game. About the pc being more hardcore than consoles the only reason I have a console is I cant afford to try and keep up with pc technology.

Good point. I'm in the same boat as you.
I have been serious PC gamer since i got my first 486DX, but couple of years ago i got so frustrated to update my PC every month because optimizing just sucks in PC games. So i bought X360 to get rid of that. Also playing with 42" plasm tv is a joy compared to 17" LCD. Though games arent so realistic and hardcore in consoles as i wanted them to be. Just have to stick with that.

Hey guys, I didn't mean to insult anyone with the "console" reference. :)
Why not picked up GTR Evolution instead of GTR2. GTR2 is great, Evo is just a little step forward in physics and handling, and it includes all the cars from RACE Pro as well :)

and I love it. So last night I decided to jump back onto Race Pro, to compare the two. Honestly, I give GTR2 a "9" and Race Pro a "4". Just about everything is better with GTR2. The graphics are way better. It feels like comparing a 2009 game to a 2001 game. There are a lot more options too. You can spend the rest of your life digging into this sucker. And the tracks you can download are amazing. Coming from Forza 2, I decided to look for Suzuka. The track is so much better than Forza. It is alive. But name a track. You can download it for free. There must be 300 of them, and most are commercial quality. If you are into sim racing, you really don't need anything else but GTR2 IMO.
Honestly, I cannot find any reason to play Race Pro right now. It just feels like such a huge step backwards. I really had no idea the gap between PC and console games was this drastic. I thought consoles closed the gap? Not from what I see.
Hey I'm not bashing Simbin! They make both titles! Just making some observations here. There is a huge gap. What is it about the console that causes this?
And when you throw in the fact that GTR2 (and GT Legends) come packaged together for $20 and you get the picture. A friend of mine is running it off his laptop and it is fluid too.
I hope one day Race Pro can catch up to GTR2. But it has a long way to go from what I am seeing.
Okay, now you can flame me. lol
This is in the wrong forum.
Hi
Thanks for that, I understand your argument about the games. I hope more people buy the Simbin titles, more money to Simbin will hopefully mean we will get more titles from them on the consoles.

GTR-2 is the best, every other game can only try to match it.

To spread the word that GTR2 is a great game and whomever enjoys Race Pro should should buy and play it. :)

wow another pointless thread by this guy. This makes what 7 or 8 now threads stating "I'm not playing RP" or "I'm playing (insert other game here)" How is this guy still allowed to post here? He has not once made a thread that contributes and just clutters up the forum with garbage.

PC versions of games are always better. Maybe the consoles will start getting better and be able to do more than make a beautiful FPS with a campaign that lasts more than 2 hours and then maybe simbin will be able to make their console product more in depth. I blame the consoles, they are geared for graphics and only graphics. Simbin is all about something much more special than that.

PC versions of games are always better.A 360 is 4 year old, 199$ technology ... the 199$ price tag is unbeatable. For 199$ i get 80% of the fun for 20% of the cost with no extra timeconsuming pc wizzardy.
'But you can download 300 tracks for free on pc' ... well, i simply don't have time to play 300 tracks. Example: to properly master a track it takes, say, 1 day. If i can play 1 day a week, checking out 300 tracks will take me 6 YEARS:) ... What about all those other games i would like to play?
Nope, for me 'less is more' ... the 360 and RacePro perfectly fits the bill
Rob you forget some very vital things:
1) GTR 2 is not RACE 07, so the forum is not the right one to post in
2) GTR 2 vs RACE Pro is like apples vs you know
3) The 300 tracks you mention are correct, but please not that a lot of them contain highly illegal content (conversions from other games, that are not supported or encouraged)
4) RACE Pro is a console game and GTR 2 is for PC
5) GTR 2 has very unrealistic physics compared to the Race Series: you can brake 50 meters before a corner and still make it :)
Nevertheless it's a cool game for sure, but already showing it's age compared to RACE 07 and even GT Legends
(I moved it to Race07 as it was the closest game to it - RACE Pro certainly wasn't the right place. Maybe I'll move it again to 'other'. )
