Hi,

Anyone know...I've got a problem with GTR Evolution. My fault - messed it up using car filters!

Is it ok to just uninstall and reinstall it again without any protection issues?

If so is it better to do so via Start, All Programs, SimBin, GTR Evolution uninstall
OR Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs?

Thanks

Yes it's okay to uninstall and reinstall. If you have the online version then use steam to delete local contents. If you have the offline version then use the GTR Evo uninstall from the all programs menu, but it doesn't really matter if you use the control panel add remove.

Please save yourself a lot of hassle by reinstalling the entire game. You dont need to!

Go to the following path:
X:\Steam\steamapps\yoursteamaccountname

Delete the entire RACE 07 folder and restart steam. It will automatically update your game to the latest version without having to reinstall all the core files again that are a few GB big :bravo:

Good tip, so where are the core files installed to?

The encrypted steam files are located inside the steamapps folder. They dont have to be removed at all as long as you run steam online it will autoupdate the rest of the files :)

Other good solution is to use the blob files trick. But before you proceed to that you have to be sure you have your steam username and password with you:

Close Steam (right click on the steam icon in the task bar)
Go to this path: X:\Steam (X is the drive you installed steam on)
Delete this file: AppUpdateStats.blob
Delete this file: ClientRegistry.blob
Double click Steam desktop icon and start the program
Fill in username and password
The game is now forced to auto update to the latest specs :salut2:

This solves the most common little problems with the game
