View Full Version : How I lost my Career Save (Saving Replay When Host Exits)

I had just finished a Ranked Match with 2 Players myself included.

At the end of the race I selected 'Save Replay'

As soon as I had selected it, I thought to myself, what would happen if the host exits and I lose the connection. Normally you are instantly booted back to the menu.

Sure enough he does and the Saving Replay Data is still being displayed, but in the background its trying to load back to the front end menu.

I thought to myself, hmmm wonder if they thought of this situation?

I waited...and eventually the loading progress stopped moving.

I tried to access the dashboard but my xbox wouldn't respond, it had frozen.

I turned it off then back on.

When the game loaded and reached the menu there was a lengthy pause while it was 'Loading' then eventually it stopped.

I went to the Career mode and sure enough the only option was to 'Start New Career'

So it would seem that if the Host exits while you are trying to save the replay data BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN! madred:

So if you're reading this Simbin I hope this helps you track down the source of atleast one of the bugs that causes people to loose their career save data.

It might best to implement the same solution most other games do when the original Host leaves the game...it passes the Hosting onto one of the players who are still in the game.

I posted this to a new thread so people might read it without having to trawl through the official bug thread.

You really should clean this up and turn it into a bug report if you haven't already.

i had my career messed up last night when i left the hosts room, though if he quit just as i left that might have caused the freeze up. Luckily i had my career backed up on memory unit so i'm all good still, for anyone worried about their career i would highly recommend the memory unit.

Way back when I was still doing my career I heard about this losing of the career thang. I did the simple thing like many did, I got out my trusty little memory unit that is made for these types of things and backed up my career progress each and every time I quit. I don't do public rooms anyway so the what I guess is the main culprit of this losing the career probably wouldn't affect me anyway. I only Host Private Rooms and we've never had anyone lose their careers even when we have a Hosting issue which is rare. A Memory Card is the answer for many game saving issues not just RP so for the additional cost it's well worth it IMO

I had exactly the same this evening:mad::mad::mad:
I was really enjoying this game online, trying not to mind all the bugs and the aged graphics. I still think the lobby idea with a training session on the track is great:bravo:. But now I have to do the boring career mode again to be able to race the F3000 online:mad:

I think this game shows that the physical engine is more important then graphics and menus, but I think the developer could have put some more effort in this game. Things like a lack of a championship in ranked match, the issue with the MS Force Feedback wheel, the fact that cars are bouncing if they have contact or hit the kerbs, intermediately ending a race when the host quits (especially in ranked races) and now the (well known) loss of the savegame are not acceptable in a game (not even an average game...).

So the "race feeling" is great, but the quality of the game is really demotivating me to keep on playing...
I am really hoping for a "real" patch or another race game with comparable physics and the possibility to race formula classes.

It's a real shame, as you say the driving experience is 2nd to none on console but this save game bug is unforgivable, it should never have passed certification. :nono:

I have stopped playing alltogether and what was initially a very positive experience has been soured. I was recommending it to my friends but have since stopped doing that.

I'm waiting for a patch to get released, if I don't get one within the next month this game is going back to the shop to be traded for something else...
