View Full Version : Need more racers!

America needs more RP racers…or more Europeans who stay up real late! There seems to be very few rooms open during our “peak” hours, but there are many open on your “peak” hours…either I have to move to Europe (not a bad idea)…or quit my job and race during the day!...Oh, but then how will I pay for future down loads!
Speaking of which I really enjoy the new DLC too, Imola is really an amazing track and…I don’t know why, but I also believe the new cars are really fun to drive, even if they are heavy American beasts, (I actually owned an SS Camaro once!). I know this simulator still has some issues, but I feel, as most of you do, that the superior physics make it very challenging and much more rewarding.
Also, because this is the “European” Atari site, I would just like to say I really enjoy racing with all you fast guys from “across the pond”. You race hard but clean…on the track you won’t give up and inch…but you also won’t take one if it’s not deserved!
See you on the track!

This is the perfect thread for all you yankees (said in jest!) to post your tags and get to racing. I know BillyMitchell and Jamesways (are you on this forum mate?) are usually on about 2-3AM UK time which is just when most Euros are crashing to their beds so maybe you guys can get a good group together and have a race. :)

I hear you...... game would be intense if the lobbies were full
I play between 7:30-9:30 Eastern.
I am a clean "mistercheeto"
I've raced with cheeto he is a good clean racer and his rooms usually have a number of people in it. Subaru I'm sure I raced with you 2 nights ago and you're right Imola is outstanding!

Hi Diablo,
Yes…I believe we did race a few days ago…and like I said, it is always a pleasure racing with you “fast guys” from Europe. I have been to Europe twice and realized how much more involved in racing you are, and man do I love the taxi rides!...lolblue:
By the way, I have been reading this forum for some time and I think you do an excellent job of running it…I’m sure it’s a thankless job.
Hi DiabloHi!

Thanks Diablo,
I will like to start off by commending the efforts of those who are still trying to pump life into RP, with their race groups, leagues, and tourneys. It just ashamed that those efforts can only affect such a small number of RP gamers.
RP has had a patch followed by DLC and yet the online community is still stagnant. Why? Could it be RP's dull personality/atmosphere which gives the game little replay value? The three key ingredients for online replay value are the spirit of competition, progress tracking, and fun factor. Which order they come in doesn't matter as long as they are there.
Add two elements to RP and watch how it increases the replay value. One is to add a Point Standings to player matches. Two is to add depth to the scoreboards. Have categories that show how many Wins, Poles, Fastest Laps, Top 3 finishes, Top 8 finishes, Laps Led, DNF's, Quit %.
It might seem meaningless but those stats give gamers a sense of accomplishment, even a purpose to keep playing the game. Yeah you might not be the fastest at a particular track but you can hang your hat on having the most wins and/or podium finishes there.
RP has the driving physics, more than enough cars and tracks. But, it's missing the glue internally right out of the box to retain players and keep them coming back for more. Again I commend the players who have these external sources for RP activity. But, RP needs sources within the game itself to reach the masses to enhance its replay value.
Yeah ....so anyway, seno are you going to put your tag down and join these guys sometime?

Hey TRC_SUBARU, I'm on several nights a week when I can. Actually I raced a few rooms with you before.
I'm not the fastest racer, that's for sure, but it's a great game and I race clean. I really enjoy racing and meeting guys from across the pond, you're right, there's not that many racers from the states on here it seems.
I'll try to catch you guys some nights.

Hi "pirate", Looking forward to you getting back on line and racing again, if I'm not on line I'm probably down at the pub, pounding "Ales" with Jamesway...
What stops me from playing online is constant disconnects, even while not in the game. Last night I couldn't last for more than 3 seconds signed in. Do you have problems with xbox live as well or it is something on my side? They are scheduling maintenance on Tuesday I hope it gets fixed.
I took a two week sabbatical from playing RP, to give attention to some of the new games I purchased. Also thinking that maybe the absence from playing RP will make my heart grow fonder of it. Not! The last two days have been a chore trying to play this game. I can deal with the low grade graphics but the twitchy framerate in RP literally made me nauseous, then racing in a online match made it worst.
Yes, I'm a lot more harsh about RP than I was before. But, after experiencing some of the other 360 titles made me realize how sub-par RP really is as a videogame in general. RP has good physics but that's only a part and RP needs better parts.

what 360 titles are u compairing rp to then? ive played them all, well the ones that matter anyway, i the only one that i would say its sub power too is forza in terms of features, but what it lacks "IMO" it makes up for with its physics and the racing, and lets be honest a Racing game should be judged by how good the Racing is, be cos thats what a racing game is for. pgr4 has tourny mode and thats the only thing keeping the game going realy, i played it for about a year nonstop when i first got online. the leaderbords wernt that competative and u couldnt race with collisions off unless u liked facing the wrong way, and grid sucks end off "IMO. so what is it that rp's subpower too on xbox realy? i agree the graphics arnt the best and the framerate is slower than others, so apart from them that we both agree could be better, how else is rp subpower to other 360 tittles? i think u musn't have played games b4 60fps an HD becose honestly it dosn't bother me. old games must make u very very ill

.
What I have noticed about this game is that it is built for the hard-core racer dark:
Which most of the people on this forum are. Many of the people I meet on RP are actually racers in real life and even though running RP may also hone their skills and concentration…they mostly race online for FUN!...and to get that “racers high” from intense competition. RP has the best physics period, and that is what brings the best racers here where you are able to race “door handle to door handle”. Yes - I know it still has many issues which hopefully will be fixed in the future, but on the bright side, because of that there are less people on RP, which is a good thing, because there are mostly only skilled racers online and I totally enjoy being able to race all night and not have every other race interrupted by some idiot trying to crash you out or trying to run backwards, or trash talking, or doing doughnuts, etc…etc. I am so glad “those people” stay on all the rest of the “arcade” racing games…so, if you want to trash talk, if you want to drift, or even if you just want to paint naked ladies on your cars…please stay off Race Pro…thank you.

+1:respect:
Catching a drift on RP b/c you take a corner too fast is awesome and oh so reawarding.
Will people stop acting like the players who are left playing RP are the, "Crème that has risen to the top". Thanks for the compliment but the truth is, we are the players who are persistent enough to keep trying to play a broken videogame.
Those who have vacated RP realized this game isn't worth the hassle of playing with all the switching of controller ports to get the FFB & vibration to work, buying a memory card to backup their HDD and then buying another memory card to backup the other card. The waiting for an hour to fill up a room of eight. Calling the doctor to get a prescription of vertigo and/or seizure medication due to the choppy framerate.
Ok, the last one was for me lol, but the game is for the hardcore. Those who are hardcore enough to deal with all the factually technical problems with the game and the poorly executed subjective qualities of RP.
RP is nothing but a library filler title for the 360 so that Microsoft can say, "look at how many titles we have on our platform". Every console manufacturer engages in this practice. They knew RP wasn't going to be a real challenger to the premium 360 titles (first or third party). But, they need games like this to fill in the gaps until the real console selling games are near release.

There's no need for that slim! And I disagree with you sean. The people left playing are simply those that are enjoying playing it,so no need for such posts.
The only reason I'm on here is for any news on an update to fix the known issues.

You seem to hate the game. Why are you still playing it?

Hi Rider,
I’ll race anything, but prefer the “GT” classes, especially the Club. I find the new “KW’s” to be really fun but quite challenging to drive, a fast lap in one of those is really an accomplishment!...always loved the WTCC and last but not least…the Mini’s!
Looking forward to racing with you!...specialdri

im not a big fan of the slower classes, but i love the gt's. i havnt driven them alot latly so would be nice to have a bash in them some time soon, i usaly race them stock cos it keeps the cars very competative, but i have some setups if u race them tuned

Yes, I do seem to like the slower classes, I like to believe that it is because the racing usually ends up much closer…..but it’s really probably because I don’t have the lightning fast reflexes to race the fast classes that the “Shumaker fast” guys have, such as you! But still, there is nothing quite like 12 Mini’s bunched up, sounding like a swarm of giant killer bees, all trying to beat each other out of a corner…lol
And I would love to try any setups you may have…thanks!

Exactly. However, there only has to be one bad driver in the field who is too confident with the out-braking thing and you get a mega crash. Often happens to me when I have pole position: I accelerate, go slowly into the first corner, and I get rammed into the flank by multiple other cars LOL
Btw, does anyone knows if in Race Pro the brakes have to heat up in order to fully use them? Because Ive always had the feeling when racing that the car brakes like in the first corner, though after that everything goes fine
Btw, does anyone knows if in Race Pro the brakes have to heat up in order to fully use them?
Yes, absolutely. Brake and tyre temperature has a huge effect on performance.
WrexFenix
22-06-2009, 17:25
Alright then, thats probably also the reason why I get rammed by everyone else everytime Haha. But now I know better. I first let someone else pass me then watch him get rammed ^^
Hell yeah it does, don't go all out in the first lap as your tyres and brakes will be cold. You'll feel these fade throughout long races.

Yup, just like in Forza 2. But I always stay to the sidein the beginning, then watch everyone else crash and then simply get past them and take a big lead

I have "Redjet" on my FL. I'm up if you are, still... hey, I made a funny. Any-hoo, I'm on EST and just got back into RP. I prefer to race GT-Sport but I'll run anything that exceeds 100mp/h, LOL
Hit me up or pop in a Room. I usually Host between 7pm - 9pm EST and then bang around for another couple of hrs. I take about an hour break, 'cause I have my Wheel set-up on the coffee table and I'm all hunched over like Quasi-'frikkin-moto... so my back gets a little tender after extended periods.
Other than that, Let's RACE!
