Due to the fluctuation of which servers are available, I can't be too specific in details of the event, unless someone in Europe who has a medium-fast PC and a high speed (and reliable) Internet connection can volunteer to host the server for us (ensure you can get it working in advance to make sure router is setup ok).

If all goes to plan, we should end up with something like the following:

Car Class
WTCC Sport or Extreme - can't remember the exact name (has a Spyker in it from memory)

Tracks
A collection of standard tracks, and if someone here hosts the server, we can add some custom ones as well. Will be more specific later.

Race Parameters
Practice sessions - None
Qualifying - Either None or 10 minutes max - we're here to race - grid position doesn't make a huge difference with us lot.
Race time - 12 minutes (should give us about 4-7 laps on most tracks). If we do Nordscheife or Machwerk we'll make an exception here since they are very long tracks.
Damage - 40% (Lag sometimes happens, and it's not fun if you crash out early).

Other details will be added as I can recall them. Suggestions are welcome. Feel free to invite other friends, as long as they don't take it toooooo seriously (here for fun first, bragging rights second).

i'm in? oh yeah wow, i'm in!

i better install the game and play around with it a while then. see you guys sunday.

oh, and MekanicalJesus might come along too. I'll email him. Old V8King club cruiser lives near me in Liverpool. Great lad. Has a GTR game that the background company has gone under and he's lost access to 10 gigs of mods. aah, the life of a pc gamer.

Great. I guess we just have to get in contact with Jamie, Leadfoot, SleepingBear and Ozz to see if they can come and we'll have quite an event on our hands (more than 8 for a start).

Anyone with a good Internet connection here to host a server?

I tried to add you to Steam the other day Pogo - and it said you hadn't been online in 187 days, assuming no-one else has stolen your name.

i haven't used Steam in a long while, as per your post Ryzza. yeah, I found it a resource hog so I removed it. I got sick of re-playing Half-Life 2, even with the FakeFactory hi-res mod and the endless updates. Shame they went 64 bit but MekanicalJesus says the latest versions run well on his 32 bit system. But he's SLI'd up with 8800GT's.

Anyhoo, yeah, I just re-installed Steam and it's here to stay. I'm going to spend the weekend playing HL2 Episode 1 & 2. And get tons of practice in with the new racing game(s). can't wait.

sillly modem. work damn you!

okay, rant over. i just ordered a 500gb hard drive. yay me! It seems every website is fine except Atari? meh. Anyhoo, I'll use my current 80gb HD as a backup and then start installing ALL my games onto the new one. It's a pain swapping stuff around just to keep entertained. I've got 10gb's left and I need to install the full 20gb Half-Life 2 Orange Box and also the GTR Evo game(s). I'll ditch the 20gb of Crysis until the drive arrives so I can get online for the weekend in race mode. see you guys soon. :)

Since you're up Pogo, do you want to do a few practice races together before your eyes start burning up?

sure thing, super dude. I'll go grab a coke while you turn msn on.

I was expecting your Steam account to pop online, but I've gone to hotmail.com to use the web messenger (I don't run IM clients on my desktop anymore, only on the work laptop)

it's 5.21am and I've been playing around with the game since before 2am. With (a lot of) help from Ryzza I managed to add some router rules to allow port forwarding so I managed to Host a server and Ryzza joined up with no problems. So if we need to I can host a server.

My modem seems okay (at times) and I've got the landlord coming round on Monday morning to take a look at what needs fixing. I know Sky said that they won't cover the cost (of a new master socket and an engineer to fit one) so let's hope the landlord puts his hand in his pocket. The damage was caused by a serious case of damp in this flat's hallway for over a year which has corroded the copper prongs within the master socket. I mean the hidden phone connection behind the face plate too. So I'll pay if I have to. I can't put up things as they are.

But things should be cool in about oh, five hours. Let's get some sleep then. see you on the track. :)

Can everyone make sure they have these tracks in case we feel like racing them after.

I'll try to be ready in 20 mins - but I have to fit dinnner and a shower in that time - so fingers crossed.

theres one race left and i'm winning by 2 pts (dunno how). As long as Andrius doesn't finish this last race more than 2 positions ahead of me i'll win or draw with him.

fingers crossed.

edit - we had different versions of the Laguna Seca track, so i've left for bed - claiming that i won (more surprising then winning the similarity game).
I'm sure Andi will post his differing opinion and call me all sorts of terrible things. I did bump a into the car ahead a few times, sometimes b/c of lag, not seeing the corner coming up (bumper cam view), typing msgs, opponent braking early, and maybe once with no excuse, for which I apologise. :respect:

Andrius was in charge of the score board so he'll post it later on.

Now where are those cookies?

btw - we're thinking of doing this every fortnight (on weekend mornings), besides if you guys want to race at evening BST, so you're all welcome to join and create your own events and let us know by making a new thread in this area.

oh what fun. stable connections, lots of laughs, people getting bumped off the track. the only thing I missed was having the ability to tap the horn. beep beep! Although I noticed someone flashing their headlights.

And the last race (round Laguna Seca) was where Andi owned the 3 noobs who connected up because I forgot to password protect our race. I finished last I think. Andi ripped up the road. A few minutes earlier he was still learning the track. Well done mate. :)

I'll be up for some more of that. I don't mind hosting again. Till next time. :salut2:

Well it was really fun, and about the bickering we had, i guess i was rly tense and sparks were flying atm, so whatever.. i'll post the scores in whitch races we all participated, well, apart from Jamie :p

Surfers Paradise:

1. Ryzza - 10pts
2. Jamie - 8pts
3. Pogo - 6pts
4. AI ( >:O) - 0 cuz fuel ran out from memory, but 4th?!!??!?!
5. Andi - 4pts
6. Danny! - 3pts

Suzuka:

1. Andi - 10pts
2. Ryzza - 8pts
3. Pogo - 6pts
4. Jamie - 5pts
5. AI - 0pts :p
6. Danny - 3pts

Siverstone '79 (holy **** what a fast track that is, after the race my avg. speed was 212km/h :p)

1. Andi - 10pts
2. Dan - 8pts
3. Pogo - 6pts
4. AI - 0pts
5. Ryzza - 4pts

Road America (carnage fest in my case :p)

1. Pogo - 10pts
2. Ryzza - 8pts
3. Andi - 6pts
4. AI
5. Dan 4pts

So the final results look like this after the "last race"
1. Ryzza - 32pts
2. Andi - 30pts
3. Pogo - 28pts
4. Dan - 18pts
5. Jamie - 13pts

GRATZ TO RYZZA!!!!!

Laguna Seca (for those interested):

1.Andi - 10pts
2. Some random guy - 8pts
3. Pogo - 6pts
Rest of the line-up don't matter :p

Yes, laguna was one of my best races, apart from silverstone and suzuka, dan kept pep-talking me that i can do better times than 1.22, so mid-race, i did 1.18 xD, race time was 15 min, but if i had floored it last lap, i would've gotten another lap to go, so i kept COOOOOOL and hung back since i had 30 secs to spare :p finished 18secs ahead of 2nd still, it was a good race *nods* heck, the whole event was awesome, hope we do this again tonguegre

I'm glad everyone had fun? Shall we book in Pogo's GTRE server for the same time in 2 weeks (or can't you wait that long)?

Was a shame how badly I stuffed up on the Silverstone track (wasn't a layout I was familiar with - I only know the GP one). Since the track was easy-ish it made it easy for Pogo and Dan to stick on my backside and wait for me to stuff up - then attempting to catch up resulted in me getting 3 Stop'n'Go flags :(

DUUUUUUUUUUDERS!!! i propose (with a hint of ryzza ofc) Sunday, the 16th of August to re-do the entire event, with diff tracks, if pogo, our server-man, chooses to provide us with accesibility to the tracks :p who's up for it?!

Does anyone have any track requests from the official list and/or from NoGripRacing.com so that we can have them all downloaded in advance?

I'd be up for it too, if I don't have any other stuff this time. :)
